

Harold Thomas Jackson, age 100, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on April 30, 1926, in Eldon, Missouri, Harold lived a remarkable century defined by faith, family, service, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his country.
Harold was raised on a farm in Eldon by his parents, Frank and Ella Jackson, alongside his beloved sister, Naomi Ruth Vernon. He graduated from Eldon High School in 1944 and, with a strong sense of duty and patriotism, voluntarily registered for the United States Army at 18 years of age. Following graduation, he left for boot camp and began his military service.
As a Sergeant in an Artillery Unit during World War II, Harold served his country with honor in France, England, and Germany. Following the war, he returned to the United States and continued his commitment to service by joining the Army Reserves in Kansas City.
Harold's life changed forever when he met Lois Church at Calvary Baptist Church. Their shared faith became the foundation of a loving marriage and family. Together they raised three sons: Kent (Debra), Chris (Anna), and Michael (Shelly). Harold was a proud Papa to eight grandchildren and Big Papa to seven great-grandchildren.
Known for his strong work ethic and determination, Harold built a successful career as an independent sales representative. He remained active in the workforce until retiring on his 99th birthday, a testament to his energy, resilience, and commitment.
Throughout his long life, Harold achieved many memorable milestones. Among them were serving his country during World War II, participating in a Heartland Honor Flight, becoming a centenarian, and throwing out the first pitch at The K on July 4th – America’s 250!
Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois; his parents, Frank and Ella Jackson; his sister, Naomi Ruth Vernon; his two brother-in-laws; and a cherished granddaughter, Lisa Jackson.
Those who knew Harold will remember his quiet strength, devotion to family, patriotic spirit, and extraordinary life of service. He witnessed a century of history and leaves behind a legacy of courage, faith, perseverance, and love that will continue to inspire future generations.
Harold's family finds comfort in knowing that his life was richly lived and that his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
Harold will be interred at Leavenworth National Cemetery and service details are pending at this time.
