Harry Francis Huerter

Harry Francis Huerter, age 86, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Brookdale Rosehill, Shawnee, KS with his family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, May 9th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS 66214. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS with Military Honors. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Sunday, May 8th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS with the Rosary recitation at 6 pm. Harry was born on August 25, 1929 in Corning, KS to William and Winifred Huerter. He grew up in Seneca, KS. Harry attended Saints Peter and Paul Schools, graduating in 1947. After high school, Harry enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge, he attended Kansas State University and then he was recalled for the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he returned to KSU where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and graduated in 1954 with a Degree in Business Administration. Harry married June Russell in 1954 and they were blessed with three daughters. He was employed by Allstate and Great American Insurance Companies. Harry enjoyed family gatherings, watching sports, John Philip Souza music, and hunting trips to Western Kansas in the past. We will remember him as a loving and generous person with a good sense of humor and he will be greatly missed.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clayton Huerter. Survivors include his wife, June; daughter, Susan Augustyn (Mark), Chandler, AZ, Karen Gatton (Rick), Shawnee, KS and Laurie Reed (Jack), Overland Park, KS; two grandsons, Timothy and Joseph Gatton; three step-grandsons, Carl, Joel and Ryan Reed and a brother, Burton Huerter, Overland Park, KS.
