Harvey William McKinney, 83, of Prairie Village, KS died peacefully on October 2nd, 2025. Harvey was born June 10, 1942, and was raised with love by his mother Alice and his stepfather Paul Moore. He attended Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. After school, Harvey joined the Army and served with distinction during the Vietnam War.
On March 14th, 1970, he married Jane Parker and they made their life in Prairie Village where they lived for 55 years. He worked for the Lee Jeans company for 44 years and was a Senior Designer for men’s and boy’s wear. Harvey loved his family immensely and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. There was never a fishing hole, lake or steam he didn’t try to conquer. He was never one to sit still when music was playing – his love for dancing was infectious. Harvey was also a huge KU basketball enthusiast.
Harvey is survived by his wife Jane McKinney, daughters Tammy Becker (Tony), Krissie Johnson (Drew), grandchildren Jack Becker (Hattie), Payton Johnson (Anthony), Nate Becker and Jacob Johnson. He also leaves behind his brothers Craig McKinney (Jayme), Matthew McKinley, Ron Heinbaugh (Sharon), and sisters Stephanie Maynard, Monique McKinley (Erin), many nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice and Paul Moore, brother-in-law Frank Maynard, and nephew Derek McKinney.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and a private burial for immediate family will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Society - Olathe, or Good Shepherd Hospice in Olathe in Harvey's name.
