James Lambert Henderson, age 66, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. A visitation for Jamie will be held on Friday, May 23rd from 4-6 PM at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204 with a Celebration of Life following at 6PM.
James Lambert Henderson, of Overland Park, KS, originally from Long Island, NY. Loving Son of August Gerami and Frances Katherine. Caring Brother to Larry, Gerry, Cathy, Peggy, Randy, John, and David. Supportive Father to Heather, Jessica, and Matt. Father-in-law to Philip. Faithful Husband to Laura. Papa to Max. He was kind and never met a stranger. He spent his life as a servant to his community. His favorite memories were of growing up on Long Island, playing baseball and clamming. These hobbies later transitioned into watching the Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawk basketball and fishing whenever time allowed. His work as a psychologist provided support to hundreds of families at the Kansas City Regional Office. Later, he focused his efforts towards L’Arche foundation providing housing and coordinating care for adults with special needs. At the age of 17, he ventured out to a small town in Kansas from his childhood stomping grounds on Long Island. Eventually, the rest of his family followed him to the Sunflower State where he met the woman who would go on the be the eternal love of his life. With her he raised 3 sporting children, coaching basketball teams, traveling for tournaments, and carpooling to practices and games. His absence will be felt by those who had the privilege to know him.
