

James F. Price, 79, of Overland Park, KS, passed away August 29, 2012. A Visitation will be held Monday, September 3rd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. The funeral service will be Tuesday September 4th at 10:00 AM at McGilley’s. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 94th and State Ave, Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Childrens Hospital Fund, Abdallah Shrine, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66202.
James was born December 3, 1932. He served in the Korean War with the 45th Infantry Division and the Vietnam War with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. Jim received 2 Bronze Star Medals and “V” for valor and the Army Commendation Medal and CIB with star. The last rank he held was First Sergeant, Infantry. Jim was past commander of Dwight Cowles American Legion Post 370 and Past Commander of Bethel VFW Post 5851. He was past President of American Postal Workers Union Clerk craft, Past President of the Tin Lizzie’s Abdallah Shrine. He retired as a training technician for the U.S. Postal Service with 36 years including military service. Jim was a member of the Overland Park Masonic Lodge with 51 years and Abdallah Shrine.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Veda I. Price; daughter, Diana Keller; 2 sons, Brian and James E. Price.
I want to thank Jan Day for adopting my dog Sally Ann. I would also like to give a special thank you to Ed and Jane Hitzelberger for coming to our home every week. The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice and all the wonderful nurses for Dad’s care.
