Jim Ungerman, 75, of Bloomington, MN died December 26, 2023. Jim was born in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Mitzi (Thomas). He grew up close to his 5 siblings, and treasured those relationships. He was a proud member of "the class of '66" at Eden Prairie High School and would be delighted to tell you that he graduated in the top 100 students (out of 88). He attended the University of Minnesota. Jim had a long and successful career in construction, where he helped to build many of the landmarks, roads, and bridges that we use every day. He loved to call out when we drove past or visited a place he had built, and those close to him made sure to thank him for his services every labor day. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends at the YMCA, escaping the cold in Florida, and feeding the variety of wildlife that visited his backyard.
He married Janice (Wiersma) on September 20, 1975 and together they had three children: James Jr. (deceased 1979), Timothy, and Thomas. He had four grandchildren that he loved spending time with and teasing. Family meant the world to him.
Jim will be remembered for his social and fun-loving nature, and his love of making others laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing him. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mitzi, brother John (Connie), and son Jimmy. He is survived by his wife Jan; siblings Robert Jr. (Jan), Jerry (Gerda), Joe (Karen), Jeanne (Brad); sons Tim (Tena) and Tom (Hannah); grandchildren Nora, Claire, Ethan, Ellen; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
