Jeannine was a 1947 graduate of Sabetha High School, Sabetha, Kansas. She graduated from St. Mary College Leavenworth, Kansas in 1951 with degrees in Music Education and Music, with an emphasis in piano, and did extensive graduate work at the University of Kansas. She began her teaching career as a high school music teacher, teaching in Plains, Kansas and Burlington, Kansas. Her high school students took part in and won many awards under her direction. Jeannine moved to Johnson County in 1956 where she taught for 20 years at Highlands Elementary School Mission, Kansas. In 1976 she belonged to a lay Covenant Community based at Our Father's House of Prayer where in 1977 she was a founding member of the music group, The Sounds of Joy. They would perform in various towns, for many occasions and at various hospitals and nursing homes. She coordinated and played with this group for 25 years. After the group retired in 2002, she continued along with a few others of the group to minister on occasion at the Masses with Prayer for healing sponsored by the Archdiocesan Charismatic Renewal.
She played for the Gospel Choir at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church for 20 years, filling in at times after retiring from that group around 1999 and continued to play with a small group from Holy Cross Church, Overland Park as well. Jeannine enjoyed music, watching sports, visiting with anyone and everyone, and most of all loved her pets.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mock, Topeka, KS; stepsister, Leslie Lines, Sabetha, KS; nephew, Greg Mock (Deann), Sabetha, KS; nieces, Debbra Bennett (Rod), Highlands Ranch, CO, Cheryl Lundin (Ray), Topeka, KS, Jamie Boring (Paul), Canon City, CO; great nephews, Bradley Mock (Christina), Overland Park, KS, James Bennett (Judy), Highlands Ranch, CO, Scott Pugh, Wooster, OH; and great niece, Jessica Lundin, Topeka, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Ethel Mock; three brothers, Donald in infancy, John “Jack”, and James “Jim”; niece, Jo Pugh, Wooster, OH; great nephew, Mitchell Pugh; and great niece, Khrysti Bennett.
At her wishes, Jeannine was cremated. Funeral services will be held at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church on June 17, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service to follow begins at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow on June 19th at 11:00 a.m. in Sabetha Cemetery, Sabetha Kansas.
