Joan A. Reed, age 89, Prairie Village, KS passed away on August 21, 2016 at KU Medical Center. A private family graveside service is planned. Joan was born on September 13, 1926 in Gary, IN. She graduated from Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1945 from Rockford, IL. She was the last nursing class of Cadet Corp. Joan was a member of Rockford Memorial Hospital Association and an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was an accomplished violinist. Joan married Cecil Reed in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Dorothy and Jean. Survivors include son, Mark Reed and his wife, Debbie; daughter, Janet Reed; 6 grandchildren, Chad, Ryan, Jason, Dan, Melissa and Christopher and 9 great grandchildren.
