John A. Vaughn

John Arthur Vaughn, 63, of Prairie Village passed away on October 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous 21 month battle with pancreatic cancer. John was born on June 6, 1948 to Lucretia and Bill Vaughn and grew up in New Castle, PA. John graduated from Emporia State University on a football scholarship. In his early professional life he was a teacher and retired after a career as a pharmaceutical representative. John was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lin; daughters, Jodi Vaughn, Jamie Vaughn (Jason Vessell), and Jenny Gray (Aaron); sister, Jackie Houk (Denny); godson, Daniel Houk (Carl Thoman); and his nieces, nephews, friends, and dog, Willie Boy. A celebration of John’s life will be held at Colonial Church of Prairie Village, 71st and Mission Rd., at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15th.
