Josef Paul Kessler, age 90 was born September 12, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away December 26, 2013 in, Overland Park, Ks. Joe served in the Army during World War II. After graduating from Rockhurst College he began his career with The Boy Scouts of America in 1950. His career culminated when he received "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" from the Vatican before retiring from the BSA in 1986 as National Secretary for Catholic Scouting. He shared 57 years of marriage with Patricia Ann Kessler (Miller) before her passing in 2007. He is survived by his sister, Toni Boyd and husband Ron of Utah, five children, Joe Kessler and wife, Debbie; Bob Kessler and wife, Mary; Janet Bernstein and husband, Wayne; Doug Kessler, Donna Boren and husband William. He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
