Judith Nell Youngdoff, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Julie (Bill) Baumgartner of Courtland, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Michelle (Ron Crady) Youngdoff of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Cody (Mariah) Baumgartner, Will (Paige) Baumgartner, Jesse Baumgartner, Anna (Earl) Robinson, Alyson (Cole) Crooker; great-grandchildren, David Robinson, Charley Robinson, and Nell Robinson. She was preceded in death by her son, David.
Born on November 4, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Donald C. and Nell E. Peebles, she was united in marriage to Larry on May 1, 1959 at Danforth Chapel in Manhattan, Kansas. Larry and Judy met at Kansas State University, and, as Judy always said, “It was love at first sight!” The couple raised their children in Overland Park, where Judy was a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining at her home. She was known as an excellent letter and note writer, and always found the right words to cheer up a friend or family member. She was the family historian, compiling notebooks with genealogy facts and interesting stories. Judy also played the piano well, and volunteered at church to play when needed, particularly for the Sunday school classes.
Judy’s absence will be felt deeply by all of us who had the joy of knowing her. She will be missed, but long remembered.
The family will hold a private graveside service on May 1, 2025 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to be sent to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, Lakeview Village Foundation Chapel Fund and Kansas City Hospice.
