

Kenneth E. (Ken) Bowers, 90, of Prairie Village, KS passed away on October 17, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 pm, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be 1-2pm, Thursday at the chapel prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
Ken was born on April 26, 1927 in Lanark, IL. After his service in the U.S. Army, Ken continued his career as a machinist, tool and die maker, and RD engineer. He was influential in development and design within the injection molding industry. Ken retired from Owens-Illinois in 1988, after 36 years of service. Ken was a twenty year volunteer for AARP, preparing taxes for the JOCO community. He enjoyed playing bridge for many years, becoming an ACBL Life Master. He enjoyed applying his mechanical aptitude to everyday projects. Ken also enjoyed computers, flowers, Colorado, traveling and spending time with his family and his favorite pets, Sadie, Betsy and Ben. Ken will be fondly remembered as a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-many.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Ina Smith; father, Orville Bowers; sister, Sally Fansen and daughter, Doretta Gay Quaintance. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna; son, John Bowers (Judy); daughter, Sherri Comfort (Jac); son, Robert Bowers; son, Greg Bowers (Roxanne); 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
