

Kenneth E. Fruits, 88, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away, Monday, April 4, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Monday, April 11 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, KCMO. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM, Monday, preceding services at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia Research Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
Ken grew up in Tonkawa, OK. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He served as a lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He received his wings on August 4, 1944. His first flight was a B-17, followed by a B-29. During the war, he was assigned to perform the coastal survey of Japan. Ken was a proud life member of the VFW.
Ken worked for Continental Oil Company as an engineer for many years, finally settling in Prairie Village, KS. After leaving Conoco, he started his own business, Kenway Corporation Co., which was very successful.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; and a son, Douglas. He is survived by his life partner, Nina Morris; son: Dennis, and wife, Kathy, of Lee’s Summit, MO; 3 grandchildren: Joseph, Dustin, and BreAnne, all of the Kansas City area.
