In loving memory of Kiesa Grace Ketterlin from Overland Park, Kansas, who peacefully passed away at Menorah Medical Center on October 12th at age 60. Kiesa was born in Kansas City Missouri on August 1st, 1963, to Marlene (Pinkham) Jones and Don Ketterlin. She became a grandmother in August ‘22 & genuinely cherished spending her final days with her grandson, Harrison.
Kiesa is survived by her husband, Larry Gaines; her mother, Marlene Jones; her son and his wife, Kerry & Kelsi Gaines and grandson, Harrison Gaines; and her brothers, Austin and Drew Ketterlin.
Kiesa was truly one-of-a-kind. She had a heart of gold. She was an exemplary mom, loving wife, loyal friend & the true embodiment of positivity. She believed in treating others the way you’d want to be treated. And more than anything, she was the most generous person I’ve ever encountered. She would give everything she owned & dedicate her all of her time just to see those she loved smile. Kiesa brought elation, adventure & joy to every room she entered. Her resiliency, sense of humor, enthusiasm, bravery & heart of gold will be forever missed.
A celebration of life will be held at McGilley & Hoge at 8024 Santa Fe Dr, Overland Park, KS 66204 on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 at 2PM.
She bestows an inheritance of love & joyous memories to everyone that knew her. She found a new purpose in life when she discovered she was going to become a grandmother. She was committed to being the grandmother every child needs in their lives. She begun watching her grandson a few days each week when she received her cancer diagnosis. In the short time she had with Harrison, he learned a wealth of new things. They developed a loving bond — the same bond many of us, who were lucky enough to spend quality time with Kiesa, developed too.
As Kiesa once told her son when he was only 5 years old: She would never leave; she would always be with him in his heart for the rest of eternity.
