LeRoy Steele

LeRoy G. Steele, 80, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on August 14, 2021. Funeral services will be 11am on August 28, at McGilley & Hoge, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204. Visitation starts at 10am at the funeral home. He will be buried in the Corning Cemetery.

LeRoy was born on September 20, 1940 in Corning, KS. He grew up on the farm and went into the army after graduating from high school. He met his future wife while stationed in Washington State. They moved to Kansas and got married and started their family. He worked at the post office from the time he returned from the army until he retired. He loved to fish and watch the Royals and Chiefs play. He was passionate about growing tomatoes, which he did even through this year. He could often be seen helping his neighbors out by mowing lawns, cutting downed tree limbs and anything else that they needed help with.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his two daughters, Tracey Preston (Bud Preston) and Cari Hallbeck (Scott Hallbeck); 4 grandchildren, Lacey Cooper, Heather Hallbeck, Toby Lally and Dustin Lally (DJ Lally) and 6 great grandchildren, Mason, Kendall, Olivia, Kimber, Kane and Cole; and sister, Marcia Hunt (Rick Hunt).
