

Lirio A. Petigna, 83, formerly of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Lirio was born May 12, 1928, in Pola, Italy, to Antonio and Eugenia Petigna. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1951, Lirio was a school teacher. He was a veteran of World World II, and of the Korean War. He retired from Berbiglia, Inc. after 33 years. In retirement, he worked for the Overland Park Police department school crossing support unit.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucrecia; daughter: Lucrezia (Louky) Petigna; son: Alexander (Noell) Petigna; and two grandchildren: Alexandria and Collin. He is also survived by: sister, Licia Crisanaz of Florence, Italy; sister-in-laws: Anamaria (Livio) Devescovi, Carol (Al) Zagorniak, Patricia (Paul) Gilson, and Barbara ( Estuardot ) Sobalvarro; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30, followed by a visitation from 10-11 AM at the Church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, or to the Building Fund at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
