Loretta grew up in the Raytown, Missouri area before going to work as an administrative assistant in the insurance business. That is where she and "Tommy" met and married. They moved to their Overland Park house in 1961, which was "home" for the next 65 years. In 1962, Loretta took on her most important role, that of "mom". Tom and Loretta were loyal members of Queen of the Holy Rosary thru the entirety of their time in Overland Park. Loretta returned to the insurance business after her children were in high school, and enjoyed a 20 year run as an administrative assistant for several agents. She also volunteered her time with the Cancer Action project in Overland Park. She will be remembered for being a great and caring mom, grandma and great grandma. Her neighbors considered her the nicest person on the block. Always wanted to chat and help them when she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Maher; daughter, Kelly Francis Maher; grandson, Ryan Maher and son-in-law, Wayne Acree.
Loretta is survived by her children, Paula Acree, Kevin Maher (Kimberly), Jo Anne Oley (Dean) and Thomas W. Maher; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
