Mabel Marie Burt of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on February 28, 2026. She was 86 years old. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 1:30 pm. Services will be held at McGilley and Hoge Funeral Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204.
Mabel was born on November 5, 1939, to Fred and Gracie Baker in Knox City, Missouri where she was raised and attended school. Following school, Mabel went to work at the General Motors (GM) plant for 34 years. In 1978, Mabel married Wilbur Burt. Together they loved to travel, and cruising was their favorite way to see the world. Mabel was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Mabel was preceded by her husband, Wilbur Burt; parents, Fred and Grace Baker; and siblings, Lorena Fleak, Noema Baker, Daisy Parrish, Clarence Baker, Lenard Baker, David Baker, Glenn Baker, and Laurence Baker.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Marilyn Shepherd; grandchildren, Cassie Lemmon, Patrick Lemmon, and Justin Lemmon; great-grandchildren, Harley, Kaisley, and Eli; and great step-grandchildren, Maddie and Shelby; along with many other family members and friends.
