Marcia was born September 28, 1953, in Kansas City, to Dortha and Eldo Kopke. She spent most of her life in the Kansas City area, and calling Shawnee home.
There was no project Marcia wouldn't take on, rewiring electrical, hanging wallpaper, reupholstering furniture, painting a room top to bottom. But what she loved most was doing all of it for someone else. If a friend needed help wallpapering, she was there. If her grandchildren needed a costume or a project pulled together, she was already at the thrift store finding the perfect pieces. She had a gift for quietly putting others first.
Marcia loved a great bargain and an even better garage sale, and some of her happiest hours were spent hunting for deals with her grandchildren by her side. She found real joy in her daily water walking, and in her laps around West Flanders Park. She found happiness in the little things.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, Dortha and Eldo Kopke; her sister, Pam Bartley; and her son, Brian Dougherty.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Kopke; her daughter, Kathie Lumbard, and son-in-law, Brian Lumbard; her granddaughters, Kenley and Brittan Lumbard; her granddaughter, Chloe Dougherty; and many friends who considered her family.
A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at the Pavilion at West Flanders Park on Sunday, September 27th from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm., with refreshments to follow. Her ashes will rest alongside her grandparents, aunt, and mother at Topeka Memorial Park.
