Margaret Mary Sloan, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on December 15, 2024. Born on April 7, 1934, in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Margaret lived a long and fulfilling life, grounded in the values of love, family, and faith. Margaret's life was marked by her beautiful marriage to her beloved husband, Dale Sloan, who was her steadfast companion and the love of her life. Margaret was guided by her Christian faith, which imparted to her a steadfast morality and grace. She is survived by a loving family that carries forth her memory and spirit. Her son, Robert Arrowood (Barbara); stepson, Don Sloan (Shirley); stepdaughters, Sheryl Palmer (Shawn) and Janet Cooper (Joe Teaford); brother, Joe Sherlak; sister, Darlene Bass; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who join the family in mourning but also celebrating the profound influence she had on their lives.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as four brothers, a sister, a stepson, stepdaughter and a step-grandson. Their memories remain intertwined with hers, and she hoped to join them in peace.
Margaret was not only a dedicated family member but a friend to many. Her warmth, wit, and wisdom were welcomed by all who met her, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to share in her journey.
A visitation will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Sante Fe Dr., Overland Park, Kansas 66204. A private inurnment service will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
