Marilyn attend Visitation Academy, graduating with the Class of 1952. She married the love of her life, Robert Callahan, on November 13, 1954. Together they built a full and lively home, raising nine children. Marilyn devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family as a stay-at-home mother, nurturing her children with love, patience, and unwavering dedication.
After 20 years, Marilyn entered the workforce, joining The Jones Store in the fine watch department. For the next 25 years, she took pride in her work and was known for providing exceptional customer care, always greeting others with warmth and kindness.
Marilyn was a devoted member of Cure of Ars Church for 50 years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she joyfully served as a choir member and Eucharistic Minister.
In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed painting, sewing and crafting, and traveling. Her artwork was especially cherished – her painting adorns the homes of her large extended family and many others beyond, serving as lasting reminders of her creativity and talent.
Above all else, Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for her generous heart and selfless nature, always ready to drop everything to help someone in need and consistently putting others before herself.
Marilyn’s love, faith, and kindness will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Callahan; son, Paul Callahan; brother, Don Christ; and sister, Jean Entringer.
Marilyn is survived by her sons; Mark (Mary), Kevin (Eileen), John (Lori), Tom (Denise), David (Amy), and Tim (Kelly); and her daughters, Lisa Bielak and Chris Callahan. She was beloved by 24 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th at 9:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am followed by a luncheon. Graveside Service will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas at 1:00 pm.
