Martha S. Schroeger

Martha Schmid Schroeger, 96, resident of The Piper Assisted Living in Kansas City, KS passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 8th from 6-8 pm at the McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel, with a rosary at 5:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 9th at 10 am at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, 15408 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor, KS.

She was born February 22, 1921 in Kansas City, MO., the daughter of Otto Schmid and Loretta Maley Schmid.

She was a 1938 graduate from Loretta Academy in Kansas City, MO.

On February 7, 1942 she married George P. Schroeger in Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Schroeger, parents, son Paul Schroeger, great granddaughter Sara Cronin and 6 sisters: Margaret Mary Dodds, Catherine Ziegler, Betty Bonfils, Joan Ford, Loretta Anne McClure and Therese Comiskey.

Martha is survived by 1 sister, Barbara Dapogny (Bobbie), 3 sons: Mark J. Schroeger (Kathy) of Shawnee, KS., Michael S. Schroeger (Doris) of Shawnee, KS., and Matthew V. Schroeger (Rachel) of Leavenworth, KS., 5 daughters: Susan Cronin (Larry) of Bradenton, FL., Mary Thomas (Cliff) of Yuma, AZ., Anne Hoelting (Richard) of Shawnee, KS., Elizabeth Johnson (David) of Littleton, NC., and Barbara Toth (Dan) of Tonganoxie, KS., daughter-in-law Roseanne Schroeger, 26 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren whom she enjoyed and loved.

Martha was wife, mother, grandma & G.G., friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her courageous spirit and perseverance inspired us all and is part of her legacy that we all share…she will be greatly missed.
