Marvin Miller Anderson, 74, Overland Park, KS passed away August 5, 2011 at home. He is preceded in death by his father Fred Anderson, mother Hellen Miller Anderson and sister Lois Anderson Moroney.
Marvin was born June 28, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. Marv was a graduate of Northeast High School. After high school he joined the military from 1959 to 1962. After he left the military, he went to work for Kopp’s Carpet. Marv was the consummate salesman. In 1985, Gail and Marv started Avant Garde interiors, they specialized in design for new home construction and never missed a Parade of Homes deadline. His grandchildren and dogs and wife made him smile. His interests and passions included cars, especially classic cars, KU basketball, bowling, fishing and sitting on his porch.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Gard Anderson, his sister Linda (Jerry) Boone, daughter Dawn (Jeff) Meaux, daughter Cara (Goran) Zdravkovski, daughter Sarah (John) Davis and son Luke (Cathy) Gard. Grandchildren are Grant Alexander Knox, Alek Miller Zdravkovski, Sydney Gard, Elise Gard, Alex Gard, Jacob Davis and Andrew Davis.

Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 8 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, August 7 at the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and Kansas City Hospice.
