

Mary C. Huddlestun, 93, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Medical Center from natural causes. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Wednesday, August 23 with visitation at 10am in the Chapel at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas. Interment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 83rd Street and Quivira Road, Lenexa, Kansas.
Mary was born to William and Josephine Troupe on October 3, 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from Wyandotte High School, Mary worked in the payroll department of Sealright Corporation, Kansas City, Kansas. There she met A. Gaylen Huddlestun and they married in June 1943. Mary was one of the original employees of the Jones Store in Prairie Village when it opened in 1958. Later she was a school crossing guard for Shawnee Mission School District. She retired as an employee of an answering service in Mission, Kansas. Mary loved St. Ann’s and was active in her Circle and other programs. She loved roses and was a perfectionist for her lawn and gardens.
Survivors include her children: Patricia Palmer (Mike) of Chillicothe, Missouri; Scott Huddlestun (Nancy) of Overland Park, Kansas; Mark Huddlestun (Janet) of Ottawa, Kansas. She was a devoted grandma to Brooke Grothe (Ted) of Overland Park; Brian Palmer (special friend Lindsay and her son, Landyn) of Lenexa and Brad Palmer, of Lenexa; Lauren Huddlestun and Lindsay Huddlestun, of Overland Park, Kansas, Derek Huddlestun, of Kansas City, Missouri, Jake Huddlestun, of Ottawa, Kansas and Brock Huddlestun, of Emporia, Kansas. Mary had two great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Graham Grothe and nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
