Mary Ellen Piggott, age 99, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on November 17, 2025 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. Visitation will be 10 am – 12 pm on Saturday, December 6th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. Graveside service will be 1:30 pm on Saturday, December 6th at the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie Road and W. 327th Street, Osawatomie, Kansas 66064.
Mary Ellen was born on February 23, 1926 in Avalon, Missouri. She was a receptionist at the Overland Park State Bank for 30 years. She was a wonderful mother, who took in ironing and babysat to help supplement the family income, when her children were small. Mary Ellen was famous for her fried chicken and her apple pies. She made beautiful, crocheted afghans. She loved all her many family members.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, William “Bill” Piggott; twelve brothers and sisters; eleven nieces and nephews and her first husband (divorced), John Kenyan Jr.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters, Barbara and Susie; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seventeen nieces and nephews; two step-children, Jim and Janie; and two step-grandchildren.
