Maureen Walter was born on October 1, 1981, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Gail and Elizabeth Walter. She spent her early years at the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, attended Holy Trinity Parish School in Lenexa for grade school, and graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School.
Maureen was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt—affectionately known as "Aunt Momo." She found joy in crafting with her mom and friends, playing dominoes, and was famously lucky with scratch-off tickets. After the passing of her parents, she took pride in decorating her cozy apartment, where she enjoyed cooking recipes passed down from her mom and dad.
She enjoyed a good book, the occasional online shopping spree, and caring for her beloved companion, Sam Dog.
Despite facing many challenges, Maureen was a fierce fighter who met each day with a smile and a sharp sense of humor. She was surrounded by a strong and compassionate support system, many of whom went above and beyond in their care and love. For them, her family is deeply grateful.
Maureen's warmth, wit, and unwavering strength will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by sisters, Jennifer and Sarah; brother-in-law, Josh Allen and her nieces, Lucy and Francie. She is also survived by her aunt, Pam (Jack) Hamer; uncle, Paul Halverson and several cousins. Condolences may be left online at www.mcgilleyhoge.com.
