Michael Wayne Hattabaugh

Michael Wayne Hattabaugh, 51, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away May 15, 2013 following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action.

Mike was born January 15, 1962 in Pratt, Kansas, to Frank and Suzanne Hattabaugh. His early childhood was spent in Kansas and at age 6, Mike moved with his family to southern California. At age 19, Mike became a father—welcoming his son Casey Michael. Mike worked as a technician in information technology. He loved to write poetry and play poker—and enjoyed many friendships. Mike was very family-oriented! His family meant so much to him. He loved a recent trip to California to see his beloved son and grandchildren. Also special canine friends were Bubba, Amber, and Quanah.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Jaime Ferreira and by his grandparents. Mike is survived by: his mother, Suzanne Ferreira; his father, Frank Hattabaugh; his son, Casey Brassfield and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren: Hannah, Grace, Max, and Joel; a half-sister, Jennifer; and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
