He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry, great granddaughter Claire, five brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Billie, sons Jim and Steve, brother Dale, sister Dorothy Kohake, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and hundreds of nieces and nephews.
Cornelius was born April 11, 1922 in Burlington KS, and graduated from Holden MO high school in 1941. He served proudly in the Army Air Force from 1942-1945.
He was a switchman for the Southern Pacific RR, retiring in 1987. He served for many years as Secretary/Treasurer of the United Transportation Union.
