Pat Wareham, age 81, passed away February 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born December 2, 1943, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Wilfrid Francis Farrell and Agnes Lucille (Murray) Farrell.
Pat graduated from Monsignor Lucky High School in 1961 and St. Mary’s College South Bend, Indiana in 1965. She married James Wareham on August 28, 1965. Pat taught English at Bishop Miege High School for 31 years and served as the English Department Chairperson for 11 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed volunteer work, especially at St. Mary’s food kitchen in Kansas City, Kansas. She was also an avid reader and loved playing bridge with her many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Wilfrid Francis Farrell Jr.
Survivors include her husband, James of fifty-nine years; and their children, James Patrick Wareham and his children, Francesca, Liam and Piper; and their daughter, Anne Murray McKelvy and her husband, Shawn McKelvy, Colorado Springs, Colorado and their children, Brendan, Riley and Kiernan. Also surviving are her sisters, Janelle Graham, Danville, Illinois, Kathleen Riordan and her husband, Mike, Prairie Village, Kansas, and Tana Farrell and Marylu Farrell, both of Olathe, Kansas.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 9:00 am followed by a Rosary and Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66214. A private inurnment will be held at later date in Manhattan, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bishop Miege High School, Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Harvesters Food Bank in Kansas City, Missouri.
