Paul Victor Sollenberger, age 99, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at home. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5400 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208, Followed by a Memorial Recital at 11:00 AM at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that contributions go to the Kansas City Chorale, 5601 Wyandotte, Suite 412, Kansas City, Missouri 64113 or the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, 300 E. 39th Street, Suite LL 1 H, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
Paul was born on January 27, 1924 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Reverend C.C. and Cora (Horst) Sollenberger. He married Dorothy Dawson in 1947 and they have shared 76 years together. Paul was an accomplished violinist and professor of Music History, Theory, and directed orchestra for 30 years at McPherson College in Kansas. He passed his love of music to his sons who both became musicians.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend C.C. and Cora Sollenberger.
Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Dorothy; sons, Jay (Patrice) Sollenberger and Alan (Mary Clare) Sollenberger; grandsons, Clay (Laura) Sollenberger and Brandon (Megan) Sollenberger; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Ezra and Luke; sisters, Angela (Vernon) Stinebaugh and Carol Lancaster.
