Peggy Troutfetter

May 14, 1937 – April 21, 2025
Obituary of Peggy Troutfetter
IN THE CARE OF

McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel

Margaret, better known to her friends as Peggy, was born in Madrid, Iowa in 1937 to Orval and Kathryn Nelson. With two brothers, Don her senior, and Jim the younger, the family moved a fair amount in those early years. And while the family lived in such places as Albia, Iowa; Tacoma, Washington; and Des Moines, Iowa; Des Moines was always seen as her hometown.

During the summer of of 1956, Peggy was set up on a blind date with Ralph Troutfetter. Ralph, having shown up late, had a rough start but by the end of the evening he had won Peggy’s heart. Peggy and Ralph continued to date Ralph’s senior year and by 1960 they were married and off on life’s great adventure.

Ralph and Peggy, once married, moved to Kansas City where both worked for Columbia Records. Two daughters followed shortly thereafter with Kathy being born in 1964 and Pam arriving in 1968. The family then followed Ralph’s career with a move to Wichita Kansas, and then onto Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. The cold winters finally got the best of them and they moved back to Kansas City in 1972, where they remained lifelong devotes to the region.

Peggy had a love for sharing laughter and enjoyed the simple act of sitting around the table, sharing stories and playing games with her family and friends. Peggy was an avid gardener, prolific reader, old movie buff, and supportive mother. In fact Peggy could be quizzed on any matter involving the history of movies and she could invariably come up with the answer.

While we will all miss Peggy’s take on life, as well as her creative ability to craft a silly password, we can stand assured that she touched all of our lives in a deep and meaningfull way.
