

Richard “Dick” Emery, 82, Overland Park, Kansas passed away the 27th of April, 2015, at Saint Luke’s South hospital. A visitation will be at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS on Sunday, May 3rd, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Inurnment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
Dick graduated from Southeast HS in 1949. He went on to serve in the Navy during the Korean War. After leaving the Navy he began his career at Bendix where he worked for many years until joining the family business at Penn Central Oil Company as plant manager. After the plant closed he went to work at Executone and then Inland Truck Parts until his retirement. In the 1970’s he enjoyed taking pictures for the Overland Park Sun newspaper for local High School sporting events. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #846.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn “Sue” Emery; his daughter, Tracy Emery and his parents, Bernice and Orville Emery.
He is survived by his loving children and grandchildren, daughter, Mindy O’Connell and husband, Patrick; children, Matthew and Daniel; daughter, Laura Emery; children, Ben and Sean; son, John Emery and wife, Susie; children, Grant, Nick and Olivia; daughter, Christi Emery and son, Timothy Emery.
