Roy B. Morgan Jr, 92, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on June 19, 2018. He was born June 9, 1926 in Millard, Missouri to Roy B. Morgan Sr and Jessie Frances (Brown) Morgan. He graduated from Kirksville High School. Roy served as a Sergeant and Platoon Leader in the U. S. Army during WWII in the Philippines on the island of Luzon. He was a recipient of the Bronze Battle Star.
Roy married Alice L. Gennine in 1948 in Kansas City and to this union 3 children were born. They were happily married for 59 years. Roy graduated from the Railroad Communication School and was a telegrapher for the Rock Island Railroad. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for 25+ years. Roy and Alice spent their retirement going between Mission, Texas, where he played some golf and Tucker Hollow, Arkansas doing a lot of fishing. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles and made many good friendships and enjoyed many friendly games of poker.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Alice L. Morgan; daughter, Barbara L. Johnson; brother, William G. Morgan and sister, Margaret Lee Hopper. He is survived by his daughter, Donna S. Ryckert; son, Dennis R. Morgan (Krystal); sister, Bonnie Vannattan, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. We will love and miss him always.
His visitation will be held 6-8pm, Sunday, June 24 at the McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel. His service will be 11am, Monday, June 25 at McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, KCMO.
