

Rubye Louise Butler, 98, of Lenexa, KS, passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2017. Rubye was born on June 15, 1918, on a small farm in Wabaunsee County, KS, to Jessie and Wallie Schutter. She graduated from Eskridge High School in 1936 and received her nursing certification from Jane C. Stormont Hospital in Topeka, KS, in 1939. She married Jim Butler Sr. in 1941 and celebrated 58 years of marriage. She worked as a nurse for many years and as a bookkeeper in her late husband’s accounting firm. She later worked as an accountant for Amoco Oil Co., retiring in 1984. Most recently, she provided tax services for local businesses and her family. She had a long, fulfilling life that was filled with adventure, love, laughter and many great memories. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as being an avid golfer, traveling, playing cards with friends, being active in her church, attending her mystery book club, and going to her weekly exercise class. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Arnold Schutter and Wallie Schutter Jr., her sister, Geraldine Willard, her daughter, Lucinda White, and her son-in-law, Carl White Sr. She is survived by her son, Jim Butler Jr. (Kathi), her daughter, Rosie Garrett (Mike), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 25, followed by the funeral mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 93rd St., Overland Park, KS. A lunch will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lakeview Village Foundation, 9100 Park, Lenexa, KS 66215.
