
Sara Elizabeth Molln (Liz), 90, of Overland Park, died peacefully on April 30, 2012 at Shawnee Mission Hospital, surrounded by her family. According to her wishes, no services are scheduled. Liz was born on November 3, 1921 near Laurie, Missouri, and was the last surviving child of Nathan Oliver and Ida Luella Stephens Allen.
She grew up in Versailles and graduated from Gravois Mills High School in 1940. After graduation she moved to Kansas City, MO, where she married George Molln on September 1, 1941. They had one daughter, Sara Lu Molln (Frazier).
Liz worked for the Jackson County, MO Courthouse, Artex and had various part time jobs until she retired at age 86. Liz loved to bowl – once appearing on the television program ‘Bowling for Dollars’ – in 1979. She was active in politics and was invited to the John F. Kennedy presidential inauguration in 1960. She liked watching the Royals, Chiefs, and KU Jayhawks, the annual family 4th of July picnic, fishing, and an occasional sip of Cherry Vodka on Thanksgiving. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, William Leroy “Jack” Allen, Olney “Rusty” Allen, Charles Elmer Allen, Jewel Allen, and three sisters, Geralene Soptic, Leta Pace, and Viola Mae Chamberlain.
She is survived by her daughter Sara and husband William Frazier, grandchildren George Frazier (wife Christina Frazier) and Jennifer Haight, great-grandchildren Chloe Elizabeth Frazier, April and Austin Haight, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She lived a long, independent life on her own terms, and her vivacious presence will be missed by those who knew her.
