I close my eyes and remember so many special times with you, dear cousin. Whether you knew or not, you were such a big part of my childhood. I wish we could have seen each other more in these later years. No matter which memory I think upon, one thing always remains the same. Your smile was pure joy. I really can't remember a time when you weren't smiling! It was sweet delight with just a spark of sneaky cleverness. I always had the feeling that there was something brewing behind that smile. I will hold those many precious memories in my heart until I see you again. I will miss you, Shane.

I last visited my cousin while I was on a travel assignment in KS; we had coffee and talked for hours reminiscing about our times as youngsters including salting slugs, checking out tide pools, and performing an impromptu 'play' in the Grimm upstairs room with, as I recall, Shane as the lead. Shane always had a smile and infectious chuckle, loved performing, and loved his family. We will miss you, Shane.

I’m so sorry to hear of Shane’s passing. I met Shane almost four years ago as I helped plan the Stuttgart reunion and he was on the committee. He was a gem. Well spoken, and very giving if his time and talents. He often spoke about his children and grand baby. My heart goes out to each of you as you mourn his loss on this earth. May you be supported and loved through memories shared and kind words of others.

Shane, you had me at hello! Your genuineness, careful choice of words, piercing eyes, all expressed your rare ability to truly listen and understand. Your spontaneous laugh! Your incredible artistic talent expressed in so many different aspects of your life from your culinary creations, musical ability, home improvement projects and precise eye and expertise in creating the perfect framing for even the simplest and most humble pieces of art. You were truly a Master! I have never known a man so thrilled and proud as a grandfather. When you spoke of her your whole countenance expressed joy! I will forever cherish our friendship!!
