Sharon was born on September 25, 1946, in Maryville, Missouri. She spent her early childhood in Craig, Missouri, until the age of nine, when her family moved to Independence for five years before settling in Buckner. She graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1964.
While living in Buckner, Sharon met the love of her life, Roger, who was staying with his sister, Loraine, in the house next door. Soon after graduating, Sharon and Roger moved to a small farmhouse in South Dakota, where they began raising their family. They later settled in Wessington, South Dakota, before returning to Buckner in December 1974, where Sharon made her home until 2020. In her later years, she was a resident of Morningside Place, a memory care community in Overland Park.
Sharon embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in many interests. In high school, she loved roller skate dancing. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her sons and grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. She enjoyed camping with Roger, relaxing in the boat during fishing trips, attending county and state fairs, and watching bull riding—hearing her enthusiastically exclaim "GNARLY!" at a bull ride always brought a smile to those around her. Sharon was also talented at cake decorating and jewelry making. She had a lifelong love of flip-flops, the color purple, and dogs.
Sharon earned the distinction of Certified Master Gardener through the University of Missouri. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of Foreign Legions.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Roger Oligmueller; her son, Todd Oligmueller; and her mother, Betty "G.G." Wright.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Tim (Heidi) Oligmueller of Prairie Village, Kansas, and their children, Wyatt and Lucy; her grandson, Teague Oligmueller of Blue Springs, Missouri; her sister, Deb (Curt) Crandall of Buckner, Missouri, and their children, Cam and Corey; her brother, Doug (Janis) Wright of Oak Grove, Missouri, and their children, Jason and Jacob; her brother, Kelly (Patti) Wright of Kearney, Missouri, and their son, Garrett; as well as her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Gilmore and Rita Kusser, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at McGilley and Hoge Funeral Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. There will be a time for all to share memories and reflections as we honor Sharon's life.
