Shirley Inez Rapp, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on June 18, 2015. A memorial service will be 12pm, Thursday, July 2 at McGilley and Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, KS.
Shirley Inez Rapp was born to Helen Farrar and Harley Hensley on November 23rd, 1920. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School and Avila and UMKC as an adult.
She was a para-professional teacher at Bingham Jr. High School. She also worked at Pittman Manufacturing Company, as a phlebotomist, real estate agent and at Catholic Charities in social services. In later life she was a foster grandparent at Penn Valley College where she was known as Grandma Shirley. Shirley loved children her friends, family, books, flowers, music animals and the moon.
She was preceded in death by three former husbands and her son. She is survived by her son, Jerome; daughter, Patrice; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Shirley was a free-spirit and a pioneer who brought a smile to many faces. She will be missed immensely. Online condolences may be left at www.mcgilleyhoge.com.
