Timmy was born on December 25, 1980 in Overland Park, Kansas. He grew up in Roland Park with his father Albert, mother Leslie, and brother Scott. He moved to Fairway, Kansas. He had a fun childhood getting to do fun things with his parents and getting to do fun things with his family, including going to Lake Chapperal, riding bikes, and playing video games with his brother. Later he found the love of racing cars. He was building and modifying cars before he was 16, after his older brother got his first car.
Tim's daughter Mikayla was born in 2006. No father could love a daughter more and he was so proud of her.
He was a tremendous talent in the custom race car field, building race cars from the ground up and was highly respected among his peers as well as a talented mechanic. He was also the kind of guy that wouldn’t mind helping you out when you needed it, including helping with cars, for people that didn’t have the money to make them safe. Working at Shawnee Service and then at his own shop, Vettes and Performance, they were always fun places to hang out and we hung out there a lot. What an amazing memory to have. I can still hear his music playing when I walked in.
He struggled in the end and wanted to get better but sadly he waited too long. We’re very sad he’s gone and we miss him.
Timmy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry and Donna Budke, his paternal grandparents, Bill and Mildred Reed; and his aunt, Tammy Reed.
Survivors include his mother, Leslie and Pete Malle; father, Albert Reed; brother, Scott Reed and his wife, Monica; daughter, Mikayla; mother of his child, Nicole McNeil; brothers, Stewart Reed, John York and Josh York; nephew, Dylan Reed and niece, Claire Reed; and numerous extended family and friends.
