She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University, and her Master’s degree in Education from Kansas State University. Vicki was a dedicated educator to children within the KCK and DeSoto public school districts, teaching kindergarten and first grade until her retirement in 2003.

She was active in their many activities and eagerly attended every musical performance and sporting event. She became a grandparent in 2013 and adored spending time with her two grandsons, Maxwell and Elliott.
Vicki had a heart for serving and hosting gatherings. Alongside her husband David, she helped lead her church’s volunteer team at the Argentine Cross-Lines Community Kitchen during her early retirement years. She loved to read and cheer on her beloved Kansas Jayhawks college basketball team. With her husband, she traveled to many scenic areas of the United States. She loved to cook and bake for her loved ones and always kept her home decorated for seasons and holidays. Vicki was kind, warm and nurturing to everyone she encountered. In her later years, she resided at Town Village of Leawood - Independent Living Community, where she developed many close friendships with residents and staff. She approached life with a kind and gentle spirit and is already deeply missed by many.
