

Virginia M. Jones, 96, of Overland Park, KS passed away January 18, 2014 at Overland Park Nursing and Rehab Center. Visitation will be 10am, Monday, January 27, 2014, followed by funeral services at 11am at McGilley & Hoge Chapel. Burial will be in Aubry Cemetery.
Virginia was born April 3, 1917, in Aubry Township, KS. She attended Kansas City Guild of Music and Allied Arts Teachers. She went on to become a teacher and she also worked in the school cafeteria. She married John R. Jones on December 22, 1945. They purchased a home in Overland Park and Virginia became a homemaker. Virginia had no children, but befriended many neighbors and treated their children as if they were her own. She was affectionately known as “Gin Gin” to all the children. John Jones passed away in 1978. Virginia remarried in 1992 to Glenn Melton. They split time between Mesa, AZ and Overland Park, until his passing in 2004. She was very fond of animals and always provided food for the birds and rabbits and supported wildlife causes. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Virginia is preceded in death by her first husband, John R. Jones; second husband, Glenn Lee Melton; and her parents, Charles S. and Mary S. Nicholson.
She is survived by close family friend, Ursula Casida and her family.
