Walter William Lambader, Jr., affectionately known as "Hunk," passed away unexpectedly at his home in Prairie Village, KS on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 74. Hunk was a devoted father, loyal friend, and loving husband. He will be remembered for his strong presence, kind heart, and the steady wisdom he shared with all who knew him.
Hunk was a self-made man, he founded and owned his own company —a testament to his work ethic, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. He took pride in building something lasting, not just for himself, but for his family and future generations.
A lifelong Kansas City sports fan, Hunk cheered passionately for his teams, often from his favorite chair with the remote firmly in hand, a dog (or two!) on his lap, and a Gates BBQ platter nearby. When not watching sports, he enjoyed boating, driving his corvettes, golfing, bowling, and trying his luck at the casinos. Hunk loved to travel (anywhere with a warm, sandy beach!) and was a big fan of live music – especially the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth, MN.
Hunk’s generosity preceded him – he would give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back, no questions asked! He also had an uncanny ability to gift the best presents – he always knew just what you wanted, even if you didn’t, and went above and beyond to make sure no one went without.
But more than anything, he loved his children and grandchildren deeply and unconditionally. They were his proudest accomplishment and greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Marie Lambader; his parents, Walt and Tessie Lambader; his father-in-law, John Antolik; and his brother-in-law, Larry Ryan.
He is survived by his wife, Marci (Neail); his children, Jamie (Scott) Mack and Christopher (Lisa Williams); his grandchildren, Hudson and Sullivan Mack, and Caleb Williams; as well as Marci’s children, Kyle (Shannon) Neail, Eric (Lena) Neail, and Christian (Ashley) Neail, and grandchildren, Logan and Scarlet Neail. He is also survived by his sister, Sandy (Ryan); his nieces and nephews, his DU brothers, and a large circle of family and friends.
With his big heart and quick wit, Hunk made everyone feel welcome. He had a remarkable ability to make life feel just a little easier and more enjoyable for those lucky enough to know him. He will be remembered with love, missed deeply, and forever honored by those who carry his memory.
To honor his memory, a private celebration of life will take place in Kansas, hosted by his DU Fraternity brothers. Later this summer, his family will host a separate celebration in Minnesota Details for both gatherings will be shared with family and friends.
