Barbara Bishop Powell

Barbara Bishop Powell, age 77, of Geneva, Florida, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, her sister, her two sons and their wives, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Barbara was born and raised in Ocala, Florida, in a citrus growing family. She attended Florida State University and graduated from Brenau University, teaching elementary school until becoming a mother of twin sons. Later her love of gardening led to a career as a florist, blessing many in Central Florida with her artistic talents. One of her greatest joys was bringing happiness to others through her beautiful flowers. Barbara was a member of the Junior Service League of Winter Park, the Oviedo Woman's Club, and the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo where she served as an usher and in various ministries. A celebration of her life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Oviedo on Friday, February 19th at 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or the Florida United Methodist Children's Home.
