

Born to the late Joseph and Miriam Michael, Dr. Calvin Austin Michael, a longtime resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, 3 March 2015, at his home in Winter Springs, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation for Dr. Michael will be observed on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 11:00 – 1:00 with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Oviedo, Florida, with the Rev. Tom Hensley officiating. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Tampa, Florida at a later date. Dr. Michael will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Miriam Michael, as well as one brother, Clinton. He is survived by his wife, the former Olivia Jones Campbell, of Winter Springs, Florida, one brother, Chester Michael of Miami, Florida, four sons: Courtney (Gwendolyn) of Summerville South Carolina, Kevin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kenneth and Samuel of Punta Gorda, Florida, four daughters: Jennifer Michael Herbin (Marvin) of Chester, New York, Paula Michael Gordon (David) of Rochester, New York, Doreen Michael of Winter Springs, Florida and Elizabeth Michael Franks (David) of Orlando, Florida, 9 grandchildren: Courtney Daye Michael of Summerville, SC, Justin and Ryan Herbin of Chester, New York, Andrew and Jessica Manning of Rochester, New York, Ashley Michael of Pensacola, Florida, Collin Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nicholas and Erik Franks of Orlando, Florida, 2 great-grandchildren: Jazere Manning of Rochester, New York and Corey Clinton of Rochester, New York, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dr. Michael attended Medical School at Boston University School of Medicine, his internship was at Fordham-Trenont Community Mental Health Center, and his residencies were at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and Rockland State Hospital. He was board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He served on active duty and the reserve as a Colonel at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida. At the time of his death, Dr. Michael was a Psychiatrist at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia, Florida.
