Carmen Diaz

Carmen Diaz, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and unforgettable meals shared around her table.

Born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, Carmen carried the warmth, strength, and spirit of her island roots throughout her life. She devoted herself fully to her family, creating a home where everyone felt welcomed, loved, and well-fed. Nothing brought Carmen greater joy than cooking for those she loved. She was known for being an exceptional cook whose kitchen was always filled with delicious aromas, laughter, and conversation.

One of her most cherished traditions was hosting family and friends every Sunday after church. Her famous Sunday spreads — especially her cold cut sandwiches — became a beloved gathering that brought generations together. To know Carmen was to know hospitality, generosity, and unconditional love.

Carmen was married to the love of her life, Enrique Diaz, with whom she shared a beautiful life and raised three children: Betty, Jose, and David. Together they built a family grounded in faith, love, and togetherness.

She was a devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her family. Carmen is survived by her daughter Betty; her son Jose; her grandchildren Irene, Rosalie, Melanie, Jason, Nicholas, Nadine, Cassandra, and Naomi; and her great-grandchildren Kristina, Ariana, S’Naaya, Mason, Lincoln and Lucas, Sonilex, Jariel, Kristian, Eduardo and Yediel. along with many other loving family members and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

A woman of deep faith, Carmen loved God wholeheartedly and lived her life guided by kindness, compassion, and devotion. She also found peace and happiness in gardening and enjoyed spending time sitting outside, even on the hottest days, simply appreciating God’s creation.

Carmen’s love, warmth, strength, and nurturing spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the beautiful memories she created and the enduring example of love she leaves behind.
