I was very sorry to learn of Cheryl’s passing. I offer my most sincere condolences to her son and sisters.  I’ve known Cheryl for over 30 years beginning as a fellow Navy employee where she was initially my Team Leader.  She was a long-time professional colleague, but then more importantly a friend.  One of my fondest memories of Cheryl is on the day of my retirement as a Navy employee in 2003.  She led a procession of fellow employees from my desk to the building front door, calling out to all who would listen, “Eric West is going ashore!”  You can’t top that for a sendoff.  We have since maintained our friendship over the intervening years by way of email communication interspersed by get togethers over lunch. That was our means of catching up with each other’s lives and having the kind of real conversations that friends tend to have.  That is what I will miss most now, the loss of a true friend.

Very saddened to learn of Cheryl’s passing, my sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.  I knew Cheryl as a Contracting Officer with the Navy and worked with her on many program efforts that led to award of numerous contracts for U.S. Navy training devices, systems, and simulators worth many millions of dollars. Cheryl was the best!  She was a real patriot with the highest degree of integrity, an unparalleled work ethic, a great personality, and a tremendous sense of humor.  As a senior contracting officer/supervisor, the legacy Cheryl left behind following her retirement is manifest in the cadre of outstanding contracting officers that she personally trained and mentored, all of whom respected and adored her, many of whom I subsequently worked with.
