Darlene Joyce Malchow

Darlene Joyce Malchow (née Schaufler), 84, of Winter Springs, FL went home to be with her Lord peacefully with family by her side on May 10, 2026. She was born in Chicago, IL on March 5, 1942. Darlene graduated from Farragut High School (Chicago).

She married Grant Malchow on December 12, 1964 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago. They were married for 61 blessed years until her passing.

Early on, Darlene worked as an executive secretary for Helene Curtis and Clevite, Inc. and was also a runway model for Patricia Stevens Modeling Agency. She then devoted herself to being a full-time mother of three and a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, FL for the past 40 years.

First and foremost, Darlene had a passion for her faith in her Lord and Savior and her family.

She also loved music, singing in church and school choirs, volunteering in her church and children’s school, dancing, bowling, the beach, traveling, and flowers. She always put others above herself and never met a stranger.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Grant C. Malchow of Winter Springs, FL; her children, Kevin G. (Helena) Malchow of Winter Springs, FL, Scott C. Malchow of Oviedo, FL, and Wendy L. (Bill) Hanus of Chuluota, FL; and her grandchildren, Grayson H. (Lina) Malchow of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Bailey M. Malchow of Roswell, GA, Emily G. Hanus of Chuluota, FL, and Madeline J. Hanus of Chuluota, FL; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. and Lorraine M. Schaufler; her sister, Carol L. (Dennis) Peden; and her brother, Howard C. (Ann) Schaufler Jr.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on May 23, 2026 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, FL.
