With deep sadness, we share that David Dangel, age 60, of Geneva, Florida, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. David left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and three sons — the people he cherished most. David lived a life marked by devotion to family, dedication to his profession, and a deep love of the life he built.
David graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1988 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He began his career at Wilbur Smith Associates, serving as a construction inspector on a section of SR 417 in Orlando. He later joined Professional Engineering Consultants, where he led the traffic engineering group and continued to build a reputation for excellence, leadership, and integrity.
In 1996, David accepted an opportunity that would shape the rest of his career, becoming the second employee of a new firm, Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. Over the next 28 years, he helped guide the company’s growth and success. In 2012, he became a Principal and Senior Project Manager, providing engineering and project management services on transportation projects throughout Florida. He also managed Inwood’s PD&E and Environmental Services division, overseeing its projects, team, and marketing efforts. Throughout his career, David was not only a respected engineer but also a trusted mentor. He guided, encouraged, and supported countless colleagues—both those who worked alongside him and those who worked under his leadership. His steady presence, thoughtful advice, and genuine investment in others helped shape many careers and created a legacy of professionalism and kindness that will endure. David was a registered Professional Engineer in Florida and a proud graduate of the Florida Engineering Leadership Institute. In 2024, Inwood was acquired by Ardurra, a nationwide firm based in Miami.
While David was deeply committed to his work, his greatest joy was his family. He and Lisa shared a marriage filled with love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. They were true teammates in every sense—supporting each other, raising their boys together, celebrating life’s joys, and facing challenges side by side. Their bond was admired by all who knew them, and the life they built together was one of warmth, laughter, and deep mutual respect. He was adored by his entire family, and he returned that love wholeheartedly.
A true sports enthusiast, David was a die-hard Raiders fan, with the Tampa Bay Lightning close behind. But his favorite teams were always the ones his boys played for. Whether it was baseball, soccer, basketball, football, or lacrosse, David and Lisa were their sons’ biggest champions and never missed a game.
David’s happiest place was the beach with Lisa—walking for miles, collecting shark’s teeth and sea glass, biking, sharing margaritas with friends, and soaking in the simple joy of being together. Turtle nesting season was a highlight each year, and David was looking forward to becoming a volunteer to monitor nests and hatchlings after he retired.
At home on Lake Harney, David embraced outdoor living and the beauty of nature. Alligators, manatees, deer, and snakes were familiar neighbors, but the eagles resting in their trees and the painted buntings were his favorites. He loved working outside and spending so many memorable nights with great neighbors, crawfish boils with amazing friends, and just taking in the quiet moments on the porch with Lisa enjoying the view they cherished together.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa, and his adoring sons Christopher (fiancée Bryana), Ryan, and Scott. He is also survived by his loving mother, Nancy Dangel; sister, Susan Mohler Leigh; and brother, Brian Dangel (Darlene). Additional devoted family include nieces and nephews Lauryn (Kevin) Holbert, Mark (Melinette) Mohler, Emma Dangel, and Kyle Leigh; his uncle and aunt, Steve and Joan Frater; mother‑in‑law, Carol Bass; sister‑in‑law, Laura Hobson; niece, Madison Dolittle; and great‑nephew, Landen Hutcheson.
