Dorothy Virginia Ellis, age 89, of Longwood, FL passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026. She was born on December 24, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Sebastian Gabriel and Angeline Spadaccini. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 53 years, Robert Ellis who passed in 2013, her son, Robert Eric Ellis, who passed in 1966, and her sister Phyllis Speakman, who passed in 2024.
Dorothy graduated with a legal studies degree from UCF in 1988 and worked as a paralegal.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristin Ellis Maurice, Santa Rosa, CA (husband, David), Erin Ellis Brethouwer, Winter Springs, FL, (husband, Jeff) Stacy Lynn Valoze, Lake Mary, FL (husband, John), son, Steven Robert Ellis, Dover, FL (wife, Sarah) and brother, Anthony Gabriel, Pittsburgh, PA.
Grandchildren: Blake Brethouwer, Orlando, FL, Jacob Ellis, Charlottesville, VA, Sebastian Maurice, Grand Forks, ND, Gabriel Ellis, Annapolis, MD, Camille Maurice, Santa Rosa, CA and Evan Valoze, Lake Mary FL.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church chapel on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11am. 575 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs with a small reception immediately following. A private burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery will conclude the service.
