Florence Ann Snow was born on October 28, 1936 in Smiley, Texas to Lloyd and Alline Bell. She graduated from Gonzales Texas High School in 1954 and attended St. Louis Institute of Music on a Piano Scholarship. In 1956, Florence was confirmed in St. Louis at Bethel Lutheran Church in Clayton (St. Louis), MO. She was married in 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward "Gene" Snow, whom she met on a blind date while he was attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. After serving parishes in Willow Lake Township of MN, and Colby, KS, Gene answered the call from The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Armed Forces Commission to help meet Chaplaincy quotas because of the Vietnam War. They served the Lord together during Gene's 22-year Navy Chaplaincy at many duty stations across our nation and Italy. Florence enjoyed using her musical talent for the Lord, both as parish organist and choir director, as well as an accompanist at various chapels her husband served in the Navy.
Upon retirement from the Navy, Gene accepted a call from The Florida-Georgia District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, to plant a new congregation in the Ft. Caroline area of Jacksonville, FL. Through the Lord's blessing, Grace Lutheran Church was formed and is flourishing today. Florence was a resident of Lutheran Haven since 2013.
Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward E. Snow of Kansas, parents Lloyd and Alline Bell of Smiley, TX, two sisters and one brother, all from Texas. Daughters Natalie J. Robbins (Steven, deceased) of Lake Mary and Lisa A. Paterra (David) of Pittsburgh, PA, and granddaughters Jessica (Oliver) French, Becky (Fred) Fox, Nichole (Brooks) Griffith, Julianna Paterra (Jeston LaCroix), and Monica Paterra as well as 5 great-grandchildren survive her. One of Florence's favorite Bible verses: "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
